Every Friday morning at
work, we go in for morning devotions before embarking on work.
This morning, our bible
study facilitator began devotion with this unique question 'What did someone do
for you in the week to show you love?' 'It is very easy to identify the good we
have done for others and fail to see the grace of God in what others do for
us,' he added.
I am glad I had something
to say; something very special that Austine had done in the week to show me
love. In addition, I got a life lesson- Always be keen to see the good things
that people have done you. With a keen mind driving me in the day, I began to
take note of things happening around me of that nature.
Later in the afternoon, I
found myself basking in the sun with colleagues. It had been a cold morning so
to have the sun in the afternoon was heaven. Two minutes later, Esther shows me
a message from our HR department that the coming Monday would be a holiday from
the Islamic calendar. No sooner had we received this than she showed me a run
of jokes on whats app on the government with the upcoming holiday.
There and then I noticed
she was able to read her messages in the sun but my screen had always been
black in the sun. And voila! There was Esther solving my months’ problem and
helping me adjust the ‘adaptive brightness level for the available light on my
phone.’ Had it not been for this morning’s devotion, I would have let this
pass. But no, I am learning to see the good things that people do to show me
love.
